What to watch at the July 23-24 PCAC peptide review

Seven peptide bulk substances are on the FDA compounding committee's agenda next week. Here is what the committee actually decides and what each outcome would mean.

What changed

The Pharmacy Compounding Advisory Committee advises FDA on whether bulk substances may be used in compounding under section 503A. For each nominated peptide, BPC-157, KPV, TB-500, MOTS-c, DSIP/emideltide, Semax, and Epitalon, the practical question is whether the substance lands on the 503A bulks list. A positive recommendation keeps a legal compounding-pharmacy channel open; a negative one effectively closes it, pushing remaining supply toward the gray market without eliminating it. The committee has form here: ipamorelin failed its 503A vote in 2024. A PCAC recommendation is not an instant rule change, FDA rulemaking follows, but it is the clearest signal available on where compounding access for these substances is heading.
